ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Ken Miller Excavating is currently seeking a temporary Administrative Assistant

Duties

  • Managing Correspondence: Handling incoming and outgoing emails, letters, phone calls, and other communications on behalf of the organization or specific individuals.

  • Scheduling and Dispatching Management: Arranging meetings & appointments, and dispatching drivers/orders when required.

  • Research and Information Gathering: Conducting research on various topics as requested, obtaining and maintaining locates.

  • Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Inputting and updating information into databases or spreadsheets, maintaining accurate records, ensuring data integrity and creating a digital database of onsite files.

  • Office Organization and Maintenance: Keeping the office space tidy and organized, ordering supplies, and ensuring equipment such as printers and copiers are functioning properly.

  • Customer Service: Providing assistance to clients, customers, or visitors by answering inquiries, directing calls, and addressing concerns in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Miscellaneous Administrative Tasks: Performing ad hoc administrative duties as needed, such as filing paperwork, running errands, and supporting other team members as required.

requirements

  • Enrollment in a Business Studies Program: Preference may be given to students currently enrolled in a college or university program related to Business Administration, Business Management, or a similar field.

  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with team members, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines and handle various administrative duties.

  • Attention to Detail: Being meticulous and thorough in performing tasks such as data entry, document preparation, and record-keeping to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Proficiency in Office Software: Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or similar software for document creation, data entry, and communication.

  • Customer Service Skills: Willingness to provide friendly and professional assistance to clients, customers, or visitors, both in person and over the phone.

  • Team Player Attitude: Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment, as well as independently when necessary, to support the goals of the organization.

  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and handle various tasks as needed in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Professionalism: Maintaining a positive attitude, dressing appropriately for a professional setting, and adhering to company policies and standards of conduct.

  • Availability: Commitment to work full-time hours during the summer months, depending on the requirements of the position.


DZ DUMP TRUCK DRIVER

DZ Dump Truck Driver

Ken Miller Excavating is currently seeking a DZ dump truck driver.  

Duties

  • Operate and drive tri-axle dump trucks to deliver material locally and on job sites.

  • perform pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections.

  • Ensure the truck is loaded properly in accordance with safety requirements and follow safety procedures for transporting the material.

  • Record trip information such as material info, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.

  • Maintain a detailed manual log book. Fill out daily timesheet and delivery tickets.

  • Communicate with dispatcher

requirements

  • Valid DZ Drivers license

  • 5 years driving experience

  • Good knowledge of dump trucks

  • Mechanically inclined

  • Good with paperwork

  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Clean drivers abstract

Desired Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have the maturity and confidence to problem-solve independently and make sound judgment calls when required. The ability to remain focused, be a team player, and make efficient use of time is a necessity. Reliability and available to commit to working the required hours Monday to Friday. Must have a valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from shop/yard.
